Propaganda posters constitute one of the most poignant documents that remain from the Spanish Civil War. As the remarks of numerous eyewitnesses demonstrate, the posters provided an essential part of the visual landscape in which individuals living the tragedy of the war went about their daily business of survival.

"Le Comité d'histoire de la deuxième guerre mondiale est né en décembre 1951 de la fusion de la Commission d'histoire de l'occupation et de la libération de la France, la CHOLF, et du Comité d'histoire de la guerre, créés respectivement en octobre 1944 et en juin 1945 pour préserver la mémoire des années 1939-1945. Rattaché à la Présidence du Conseil et doté d'un important réseau de correspondants en province, ce nouvel organisme, animé par l'historien Henri Michel, était principalement chargé de susciter des témoignages sur divers aspects de la Résistance et de l'Occupation, tout en coordonnant des enquêtes et des publications sur la seconde guerre mondiale. Il avait aussi vocation à recueillir les archives personnelles des acteurs de la période. Lorsqu'il fut dissous en 1980 et remplacé par l'Institut d'Histoire du Temps présent, l'IHTP, tous les fruits de cette collecte multiforme furent dévolus aux Archives nationales, constituant la matrice de la série 72 AJ.
Le Comité avait également rassemblé une importante collection d'affiches, comprenant un millier de pièces et s'étendant du début des années trente à l'après-guerre."

The holdings of the Print Collection in the Rare Books and Special Collections Division include some 250 Canadian posters from the two World Wars. The posters are accessible to researchers who visit the Division's Lande Reading Room; a printed finding aid is available from the Reading Room Supervisor.

Manifestipolitici.it è un progetto promosso dall'Istituto Gramsci Emilia-Romagna con la realizzazione tecnica di Manifesta.
Con questo progetto si intende offrire alla consultazione un documento dalle variegate chiavi di lettura come il manifesto, per molti aspetti vero prodigio della comunicazione. Basta infatti una fuggevole occhiata, un'inconsapevole e distratta attenzione per trasmettere un messaggio altamente complesso. Pochi istanti sono sufficienti per trasformare quell'insieme di colori, di immagini e di parole in un intero mondo: non solo proposte politiche, ma rappresentazioni di un complesso sistema di valori. Testimone e protagonista della nostra storia, il manifesto rappresenta una risorsa stimolante per la ricerca nei più diversi ambiti: dalla storia della grafica a quella dell'editoria, dalla storia della propaganda e della comunicazione politica a quella dell'evoluzione dei costumi e dei comportamenti.

Le immagini in formato TIFF sono conservate presso la sede del Dipartimento di Storia dell'Università degli Studi di Padova.
